Primary Function: Missile test monitoring; a telemetry station.
Description and Activities: The Tabas telemetry station is located along the Mashhad-Isfahan Road, 553km southeast of the Iranian capital, Tehran, in the province of Khorasan. This telemetry station is located in the Salt Desert, which allows the Iranians to launch missiles from the Shahroud test site and observe their impact in the desert away from highly populated regions. The IRGC probably supervises all activities at this facility.
